Pipestone Indian School Research Fellow (Mellow Fellow)
Work closely with partners to research, acknowledge, and remember the experiences of the children at the Pipestone Indian School, fostering opportunities for community healing and public awareness.

Ancestral Lands Prairie Stewardship Intern
Help in the success of tallgrass prairie restoration, exotic invasive species removal, scientific monitoring, and developing programs to engage Native American high school students in conservation careers.

  • Location: Pipestone, MN (Housing not provided, but we have worked with income-based local housing in the past)

  • Requirements: Associate or Bachelor's Degree; within the ages of 18-30

  • Timeframe: 6 months - start April or May 2023

  • Compensation: $680/week stipend + $3,097 education award

Seasonal Park Guide or Biological Science Technician 
Work as a uniformed ranger, either providing public information and interpretation or in the field with natural resources.

  • Location: Pipestone, MN (Housing not provided, but several local options available)

  • Requirements: Vary depending on grade level

  • Timeframe: 6 months - start April 2023

  • Compensation: Varies from ~$14/hour (GS-3, high school diploma) to $18 (GS-5, bachelor's degree)

Artist-in-Residence

Create art inspired by Pipestone during a 5-10 day residency and give a program for the public.

  • Location: Pipestone, MN (Furnished AirBnB provided 15 minutes away in Jasper, MN)

  • Requirements: Artist in any medium

  • Timeframe: 5-10 days in summer 2023; see attachment for dates

  • Compensation: $1,000 honorarium

Directorate Resource Assistant Fellows Program (Sharing from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service)

Monitor wild rice production in the state of Minnesota.

  • Location: Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in Rochert, MN (Housing provided)

  • Requirements: Undergraduate senior or graduate student

  • Timeframe: 12 weeks, either May 22-August 4, 2023 or June 19-September 1, 2023

  • Compensation: $680/week
